MSW MPH students support National Public Health Week

Ryder (Dec '14) and Pettus (Dec '14)

Two MSW MPH students participated in the National Public Health Week celebration at the University of Georgia.  Kelly Ryder (Dec  ’14) and Joelle Pettus (Dec  ’14) shared their message about prevention with tips on how students can increase their physical activity each day on campus.  They held an event “Walk to Class for Better Health” to share how the transportation choices one makes every day can impact long-term health.

The University of Georgia College of Public Health celebrated National Public Health Week (NPHW) by hosting events and activities during the week of April 7th surrounding this year’s theme, "Public Health:  Start Here."

National Public Health Week is sponsored by the American Public Health Association.  Since 1995, the group declared the first week in April as “a time to recognize the contributions of public health and highlight issues that are important to improving our nation’s health.”  More information can be found on the NPHW website, http://www.nphw.org.
