Dual Degree Students Invited to Participate In the University of Georgia Emerging Leaders Program

Hannah Demmitt (Dec ’14) and Mumbi Mwaura (Dec ’14) have been accepted into The University of Georgia Graduate School’s Emerging Leaders Program.  The Emerging Leaders Program is an invited leadership workshop sponsored by the Graduate School.  Held during Fall break, this two and a half-day intensive program helps students gain the professional development and leadership skills necessary for entering a workplace characterized by a diversity of people, career opportunities, and ever increasing responsibilities.  The competitive application process required students to write an essay on their motivation to participate and what they would bring to the program, and a letter of recommendation from their advisor describing their qualifications, skills, and potential for leadership.

Dr. Salm Ward, Coordinator of the MSW/MPH program, notes, “I strongly believe Ms. Demmitt and Ms. Mwaura will actively contribute to their own learning experiences as well as their fellow learners.  With their dual preparation in Social Work and Public Health, they bring together two complementary perspectives to enhance human well-being.”

Congratulations Ms. Demmitt and Ms. Mwaura!
