Meet Our Students - Prashikshya Karki, MA (Dec '14)



Prashikshya Karki, MA is currently pursuing an MSW MPH with expected graduation in December 2014. Ms. Karki earned an MA in Rural Development in 2006 from Tribhuvan University in Nepal. 

Ms. Karki is interested in mental health promotion and reduction of comorbidities and interactions between mental and physical (ill) health.  She completed her social work foundation placement at Lutheran Services of Georgia, where she worked closely with the staff in the community reintegration project for people with developmental disabilities (the FACES program).  Her duties included conducting needs assessments, identifying host home providers in the community, monitoring of the homes, and participating in policy and coordination  meetings aimed at overcoming the gap between mental health and primary health.

She will begin her integrated public health and social work placement at Advantage Behavioral Health in summer 2014.  She will work with the staff in evaluation, quality improvement, and conducting needs assessments and other clinical activities in a drug court project.

Ms. Karki is also a Graduate Assistant in the School of Social Work, where she supports Dr. Trina Salm Ward, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the MSW MPH Program, in strengthening the program and supporting her research activities.
