Meet Our Students - Ashley Bowman (Dec '16)

Ashley Bowman (Dec '16)
Ashley Bowman (Dec ’16) is pursuing an MSW (Clinical concentration) and MPH (Health Promotion and Behavior concentration) with expected graduation in December 2016.  She earned a Bachelors in Social Work from Georgia Regents University in May 2014.

Ms. Bowman is interested in mental health, specifically serious and persistent mental illness.  Upon graduation, she plans to pursue social work licensure and hopes to work in the mental health field, eventually in a leadership role at a psychiatric hospital.

Ms. Bowman completed her foundation social work placement at Alliance Recovery Center where she assisted counselors in completing psychosocial assessments, treatment plans, and discussing the intake process with clients.  She now continues to volunteer there.

On why she chose the dual MSW MPH program, Ms. Bowman states, “I felt that getting the dual degree would boost my knowledge in the structure of the health field and give me an idea of how to improve the mental health of our society by using public health concepts and intertwining them with the skills I’ve gained in the social work field.”
