Ms. Mwaura completed her social work foundation placement at The Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) in Monroe, Georgia. Her duties included assisting case managers with intake, foster care and adoption, investigations, and family preservation.
She looks forward to the integrated public health and social work placement in Summer 2014 at Clarke County at Early Head Start/ Head Start. At Head Start, she will provide education, support, and training opportunities for parents whose children have chronic illnesses. In addition, she will aid children and parents in meeting their health and family goals.
As a graduate assistant with the Graduate School Office of Outreach and Diversity, Ms. Mwaura also helps with recruitment of prospective University of Georgia graduate students.
Her research interests include health disparities and healthcare access for individuals with disabilities.
